Warehouse Operations Manager (F2019-000077)

Job Description

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading a team of warehouse supervisors in the day to day operations. The successful incumbent would be responsible for production planning, coaching and mentoring the team, developing and monitor KPIs and ensuring service level agreements are met.



  • Monitors KPI’s on a daily, weekly, monthly basis and provides direction and support to supervisors to ensure teams meet goals.
  • Reviews & monitors operational processes to ensure that they support achievement of KPIs, with constant focus on continual improvement.
  • Reviews productivity reports to ensure operations are profitable and efficient; responsible for cost control activities and related improvement initiatives.
  • Ensures staffing levels are adequate to meet KPIs and reviews levels to ensure overstaffing does not occur.
  • Responsible to ensure that each department has current process maps and work instructions.
  • Conducts meetings with supervisors on a regular basis and supports supervisors by periodically attending their meetings with employees.
  • Liaises with client to ensure ongoing satisfaction, responds to new requests and investigates and resolves issues.
  • Assesses supervisors using the corporately approved performance management process and coaching techniques, while providing fair and consistent feedback. Communicates this information directly to the manager and to Human Resources.
  • Responsible to conduct progressive discipline for supervisors up to but not including termination, in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Provide coaching and on the job training to ensure that employees are capable of meeting individual performance goals and are cross trained to maximize their contribution to the company and provide backup support when needed.
  • Implementation of current customer requests for special projects or value added services, including process mapping, facility lay out, staff training, etc.
  • Participates in different projects as requested.
  • Responsible for administrative functions including but not limited to:
  • employee attendance and punctuality with immediate resolution of incidences as they occur.
  •                Ensures Navigator (proprietary time tracking system) accurately reflects hours worked by each employee.
  •                Responds to employee inquiries regarding job information, pay issues, benefit questions.
  •                Monitoring return to work dates of employees on leave and informs Human Resources of any employees that fail to return to work.
  •                Investigates accidents, completes accident reports with Human Resources and ensures preventive actions are implemented.
  • Provide detailed and information requests to internal and external clients and respond to same within areasonable turnaround time as set by the GM.
  • Proactively investigates and resolves operational issues as they develop.
  • Determines daily operational plan, sets priorities and assigns employees as required. Requests additional resources if required.
  • Responsible for the allocation and proper use of equipment such as RF guns, pump trucks and forklifts.
  • Ensures adequate equipment and supplies are available such as skids, labels, empty boxes, etc. Orders supplies as required.
  • Responsible to ensure quality standards are met by visually auditing product, analyzing computer data and reviewing paperwork.
  • Liaise with internal departments such as Customer Service, Transportation and Inventory Management to investigate and resolve operational and client issues.
  • Aware of current ongoing customer requirements, changes to contracts or new client set up in order to meet customer expectations and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Responsible for creating a work environment that is inclusive of diversity, free of discrimination and free of conflict.
  • Ensures that the workplace is safe and meets all legislative requirements. Responsible for housekeeping and ensuring only trained employees operate material handling equipment.
  • Initiates Rewards and Recognition programs for associates to recognize performance.
  • Performs administrative tasks as they relate to the operation; Participates in different projects as requested.


  • Must have experience in a 3rd party logistics environment.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled using a warehouse management system (WMS), PkMS or WMi preferred.
  • 3-5 years experience in a supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be a resourceful self starter with exceptional labour planning skills.
  • Team player skills with demonstrated abilities to interact well with all levels of associates.
  • Proven ability to encourage and motivate others in a positive manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent organizational skills.
  • Able to lift cartons or bins that weigh up to 50 lb; repetitively at times.
  • Data entry and/or computer keyboard experience.
  • Works well under pressure; High energy level.



  • Minimum High School diploma; College diploma preferred.
